The Factory
Design Information
The Factory is an historic building complex in Franklin, TN. Once home to a stove manufacturer, the spaces now serve as restaurant, retail, and entertainment spaces.
Looking for a visual identity representative of their signage.
Readymade designed a district-based wayfinding system corresponding to the built environment.
The system spans identification, orientation, directional, and regulatory sign types – making it easy to know where you are, where to go, and what to do.
Hand-painted speckles introduce texture and a human touch – softening the industrial materials.
Iconography extends the graphic language – purposeful, straightforward, and consistent.
Layered panels create liminal depth, and allow die-cut elements to reveal an unexpected pop of color.
A stencil typeface and a mechanical counterpart reinforce the site's warm, utilitarian environment.
